Actors to watch out for in Korean Movies: Ju Ji Hoon

Hello! It’s Meron. I’m here today to talk about one of my favorite Korean actors, Ju Ji Hoon. Ju Ji Hoon is a South Korean actor mostly known for his unique characters in movies. The first time I saw him on screen was in the 2008 romance movie Antique. He played a very complicated character whose his childhood trauma was affecting his adulthood. Antique is the first LGBTQ Korean Movie I watched and I found his character very intriguing. I liked his acting and after doing some research I discovered Along with the Gods: the Two worlds. Five minutes in, when Ju Ji Hoon appeared on the screen, I paused for a second. I just stared at him for a long time, I could not believe that the same actor who had played such a serious character in Antique was playing the insanely entertaining and humorous character in this movie. I think that moment was the moment I became a die hard fan of Ju Ji Hoon.

Ju Ji-hoon is one of the most versatile actors of his generation, he works insanely hard and always chooses to play multi-faceted characters that the audience can relate to, cry and laugh with. I am really looking forward to seeing how he grows as an actor.

Below are my favorite movies that he has been in. I highly recommend all of them.

Asura: The City of Madness

It has literally everyone in it. One of the best chemistry between the cast that I have ever seen in a movie. Outside of the amazing casting, the story is also brilliant, the bromance gives you all the feels in the world and the ending is daunting.

Ju Ji Hoon, Lee Kwang Soo and Ji Sung play childhood best friends. The movie explores the strengths of friendships and choices. It will make you cry a lot.

Along with the Gods 1 and 2

It is a story about a dead man and 3 grim reapers who go on a journey with him to get him reincarnated. It has all the elements that can make a movie great. Amazing cast, amazing director and amazing story. (I Highly recommend watching it with family).

Dark Figure of Crime

Based on a real story. Ju Ji Hoon plays a Psycho killer. I think it is one of his best works to date. I recommend watching it after having watched the other movies on this list.

The Treacherous

(Very 18+)

P.S: Ju Ji Hoon has also acted in dramas, he is most known for starting in: Kingdom (netflix), Mask (SBS), and Princess Hours (aka Goong) (MBC).
